Project Update

On August 25, 2025, the School Building Committee (SBC) presented the Schematic Design to the Select Board, School Committee, and Finance Committee. Both the Select Board and the School Committee formally endorsed the scope and budget of the Schematic Design. Following their endorsements, the SBC authorized the submission of the Schematic Design Report to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA).

The current design is a refinement of Option AR4a. This option was selected because it is the only renovation plan that fully satisfies the academic requirements outlined in the Educational Plan, eliminates the need for temporary modular classrooms, and qualifies for the highest estimated reimbursement rate from the MSBA.

On August 28, 2025, the SBC submitted the Schematic Design Report (SDR) for Option AR4a to the MSBA. The report is available for viewing and download by clicking here or on the report cover below.

Community Forum 07.11.25

The School Building Committee (SBC) has spent the last few months reviewing seven potential building project options, including three pure renovation projects, three addition/renovation projects, and one new building project.  The SBC, School Committee, and Select Board have come to the conclusion that one of the addition/renovation options, Option AR4a, is the best option for the town of Millis.  AR4a is the only renovation option that fully meets the academic needs outlined in the educational plan, the only option that does not require temporary modulars, the option with the highest estimated reimbursement rate from the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), and in the opinion of these committees, the most fiscally responsible solution.

On January 22, 2025, the SBC presented its findings to the Select Board and School Committee, and voted to recommend the preferred option, AR4a. On February 5, 2025, the School Committee and Select Board voted to endorse the preferred option, and on February 27, 2025, the SBC submitted the preferred option to the MSBA via the Preferred Schematic Report (PSR), which can be viewed and downloaded through the link below.
